Weâve Been Here Before: âCounseling Students in the Postwar Collegeâ
Using the 1944 work of E. G. Williamson, then president of ACPA, this essay provides historical and comparative analysis of campus efforts surrounding student-veterans. Emphasis is placed on Williamsonâs five efforts, which alerted colleges to the immediate needs of veterans returning from the Second World War and enrolling in college. The current work applies Williamsonâs five efforts to contemporary higher education and the military students enrolled therein. Recommendations for practice are offered.
